Biorizon Consulting at EMBL Heidelberg in Germany: A Milestone Appearance at Transforming Science Day

We’re excited to share that Biorizon Consulting took part in the Transforming Science Day 2025 at EMBL Heidelberg — marking a key milestone as we hosted our first official booth in Europe.

As a Singapore-based life science consultancy, it was a privilege to be part of this dynamic and purpose-driven event, bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to explore new ways of shaping scientific progress and improving patient outcomes.

A special highlight of the day was seeing our Founder and Executive Director, Dr Laura Marie Zimmermann, participate in a panel discussion and share her personal journey — from the ups and downs of her PhD to launching her own company, and how early industry collaborations helped accelerate her path.

“When you hit mile 16 in research — as I did during my PhD — collaboration can be the energy boost that helps you move forward and reach the finish line,” Laura shared.

Laura reflected on the role of academic–industry partnerships and highlighted her experience working with Boehringer Ingelheim and the opnMe platform, which provided access to scientific compounds that were instrumental in her research and publication success. It was a full-circle moment to share the stage again with Florian Montel, six years after their first connection through opnMe.

The panel, which also included Menorca Chaturvedi, PhD, Oliver Kast, and the 2025 Innovation Prize Winner, sparked meaningful conversations around how open innovation and scientific empowerment can drive translational research forward.

Beyond the formal programme, what stood out most was the emotional honesty and shared passion among participants — from tackling scientific hurdles to celebrating the purpose that unites us all: improving lives through science.

Hosting a Biorizon Consulting booth at EMBL was more than a company milestone — it was a celebration of everything we stand for: bridging continents, connecting academia and industry, and accelerating the path from idea to impact.
